WIDE BAY BURNETT ASSET MANAGEMENT WORKING GROUP
NOTES OF THE INAUGURAL MEETING HELD ON 4TH JUNE 2009 AT THE MARYBOROUGH CITY HALL.
THE MEETING COMMENCED AT 10:15AM

PRESENT:

W.EDDY(BUNDABERG) T. FANSHAW,P. WALKER, A.LASZLO (GYMPIE) C. LITTLEJOHNS, G.RINEHART, K. WADE (SOUTH BURNETT) P. VAN BREEMAN, L.BENHAM (NORTH BURNETT) K.WALSH, M. HERBERT, G. BOGNER (FRASER COAST) W. PAULGER, S SLATTER (WBBROC)
Spencer Slatter welcomed attendees and advised that the recent ROC meeting had approved the establishment of the group and that the ROC would facilitate the working of the group and may provide some limited financial assistance.

ELECTION OF CHAIR

Following discussions Wayne Eddy was appointed as Chair.

MEMBERSHIP

It was resolved that all member Councils of the WBBROC be entitled to membership and that there be no set limit on attendees per Council.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Discussions took place regarding the Terms of Reference. It was agreed that whilst the matters highlighted in the TOR were all relevant time constraints would require the group to establish priorities.
During discussions each council detailed the type of asset management systems that had and the degree of implementation …..a variety of systems and implementation was evident.
It was noted that under the new Act all Councils were required to have an Asset Management Plan by December 2010

DEFINITIONS

It was agreed that developing a standard set of definitions was a priority activity. Wayne Eddy indicated that he had put the Bundaberg definitions up on the website as an example and it was agreed that members would check this and provide comment.

ASSET VALUATIONS/POLICIES ETC

Discussion regarding unit rates, timing of revaluations, sharing of policy etc

PRIORITIES;

It was resolved that the Chair circulate an email :-
1.setting out proposed priority activities,
2.standard definitions – for comment by all before 30 June 2009
3.requesting all Councils to provide copies of their policies for sharing with members
4. requesting Councils to advise the last asset revaluation date
